Why Give to
Backstreet Missions?
High prices, job losses and
foreclosures are leading some into homelessness according to a
survey conducted by the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM).
These are tough times and the people who feel the pinch of the
economy first are those in single parent homes.
The Mission is here to catch people when they fall.
Oftentimes, requests come
from people who are on the verge of being homeless.
Many come to the Mission
for meals or other assistance.
Fuel prices, food costs,
increases in utilities and monthly rent just add up.
If the Mission can step in and help
folks get through the month, it keeps them afloat.
61% come to the Mission
daily for help.
Over 38,000 meals were
served at the "soup kitchen" Geno's Cafeteria in 2008.
Close to 2,000 individuals
received help through the Food Pantry/Assistance outreach.
In 2008, the Mission
provided shelter, food and clothing to 383 homeless men, 34 women
and 26 children who stayed at our shelters.
The programs offered renew hope in each of their lives.
It wonderful to see a smile return to their faces after a few days
at the Mission. We're thankful for faithful donors who make it
possible for us to care for our neighbors in need.
If you are able, please make a donation to the mission today.
You could literally be helping your neighbor, who has just fallen on
hard times.
Please partner with us to provide help.
