Backstreet Missions provides a short-term emergency shelter for the homeless and extended stays for those who are committed to setting positive goals and pursuing a better life style. In all of our programs here we strive to help those who want to help themselves.
The Upper Room Men's Shelter and Backstreet Office's are located at 215 S. Westplex Ave. just north of 3rd St. west of S. Patterson Dr. in Bloomington, IN. with easy access to Bloomington Transit. Contact us for more information.

A: Men

A: No
Q: Do you turn people away in the winter?
A: No. We turn no one away.
Q: What is the criteria for staying at the shelter?
A: Simply being homeless for whatever reason.
Q: What is the check-in and check-out time?
A: 5:00 p.m. is check-in time and 7:30 a.m. is check-out time.
Q: How long may a person stay?
A: Our usual stay is 7 consecutive days every 30 days. After 7 days, the 90 day Nehemiah Program is available. We have a working program where the men may stay 60 days until they can save up for housing. The "Abundant Life" program houses men up to 1 yr. with in-depth Bible study, life skills classes, etc.
