You may be surprised to learn that most of the homeless and those in need of our services are genuinely good people who have fallen on hard times. Especially in today's economy.

At Backstreet Mission, the most common reasons that guests seek our services are:

We are here to help when unfortunate circumstances of life affect the people of our community.

2011 Backstreet Report

We were fortunate to touch many lives throughout 2011. Here is a quick report of what we accomplished over the year. Thank you for your support, financial contributions, and prayers.

246 homeless men, 26 women, and 18 children found shelter and hope.
7,753 nights of lodging were provided.
1,061 individuals received food items from the Food Pantry/Assistance Outreach.
Over 41,000 meals were served at Gene's Cafeteria and the Mission.
400 families received Thanksgiving food baskets.
200 children were given Christmas gifts.
Over 600 volunteers served at the Mission.
