Linda Kelley
President
Co-Founded Backstreet Missions, Inc. with her husband Gene in 1995.

Linda retired in 2000 after twenty years with Sabin Corp. (Medical component manufacturer-Cook Group) as Quality Assurance Supervisor to help her husband in the ministry full-time. Her desire is to continue with the vision God gave them to provide Christian-based help to the homeless and hurting.

 

Pastor Bruce Wheeler

Bruce is Pastor of Living Waters Church in Bloomington where he and his wife Karen have been for 24 years. Bruce and Karen have 3 sons who have been a great help in the ministry throughout the years. He has a passion to see others grow in Christ through the power of the Word of God. Bruce met Gene Kelley many years ago and learned about the vision of Backstreet Missions, Inc. Since that time, Bruce has taught the men at the Mission and helped out where he could. As a board member he can now help in a different capacity by praying with the other board members and supporting the mission in a leadership role.

 

Craig Schwartz

Craig Schwartz was born in 1953 in Ft. Wayne, IN. He married his wife Marleen in 1978 and they have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. Marleen is an RN working at IU Med. Center. Craig graduated from Purdue University with an Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1975. He has owned and operated Chicago’s Pizza in Ellettsville since 1998 and recently opened a branch in Gosport. Craig and Marleen have been members of Ellettsville Christian Church since 1993.

 


John Cronkite

Dr. John Cronkhite lives in Bloomington, Indiana, where he serves at the Sherwood Oaks Christian church. He is a retired emergency physician. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Illinois–Urbana campus, where he became actively involved with the University of Illinois Christian Student Fellowship.

Following that, he earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. After medical school, John performed his internship and residency training at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, where he met his wife Susan.

He worked in the private practice of Pediatrics in Appleton, Wisconsin early in his career before changing his specialty to Emergency Medicine. He recently retired from serving a career in the emergency department of the Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington, Indiana.

He has attained board certification with the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, as well as being certified in the discipline of Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

He served as an elder at the Ellettsville Christian Church and was a founding board member of the Richland–Bean Blossom Healthcare Facility. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Christian Student Fellowship at the University of Illinois.

His interests include music, reading, and Civil War history.

Susan and John have two children, Matt and Jane.

Dr. Cronkhite has served on the CCF/Axiom board since 2009.

 

Bob Whitaker

Pastor Bob Whitaker has been the Senior Pastor of Evangelical Community Church since 1998. He has been married to Brenda since 1981 and together they have 2 children. He holds an M.Div. and S.T.M. from Yale Divinity School and is completing a D. Min from Princeton. He loves the Lord, has supported the work at Backstreet for many years and wants to further his involvement by serving on the Board.

 

Johnny Lindsey

Johnny Lindsey is the Executive Vice President of the Peoples State Bank in Ellettsville, IN and has been a member of the Ellettsville Christian Church for 11 years. He also serves as a deacon and the Finance Committee Chairman for the church for many years as well. He graduated from a Christian college, Milligan College, in 1992, where he met and married a wonderful Christian wife, Julie. They both stay busy with three teenage children. His hope is to serve Backstreet Missions by using his experience in banking and on the finance committee of his church
o provide assistance with financial decisions.

 

Jeff Huston

Jeff Huston, originally from Marion, IN came to IU in 1987 and realized early on that Bloomington would become his permanent home. Jeff is a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and has been actively involved with both leadership and teaching responsibilities.  His wife Kristi and he keep busy with their five children Jacob, Joshua, Joel, Alexandra and Alyssa. Jeff is an Investment Representative with Bill C. Brown Associates and helps people with investing and retirement planning. For fun, Jeff likes to canoe and fish with friends and family.

 

 

Jim Barr

Jim Barr, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, has been in the pastorate for more that thirty-five years. A graduate of Jacksonville College in Texas, Jim attended the Baptist Missionary Seminary while pastoring his first church in Kerens, Texas. He and his wife of forty-eight years, Pat, have two adult daughter and four grandchildren. He served as missionary pastor and later as senior pastor of two churches that he helped start in Illinois before coming to Indiana to serve at Calvary. Pastor Jim has served as senior pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Bloomington for the last seventeen years. His interests include reading, camping, cooking and mentoring.
